St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church Panayamapala, the north fort of Niranam Diocese belongs to Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church which was established on 1st January 1925. It was reconstructed on 16th August 1991 by the then Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, H.H. Baselios Marthoma Mathews II. In its beginning only 12 families included and now it has been increased to 160 families. Rev.Fr. Alexanthraos Thazathepeedikayil was the first Vicar of the church, who served as Vicar till 1946. Rev.Fr. Alexanthraos Thevarvelil, Rev.Fr. Alexanthraos Manjanamkuzhiyil, Rev.Fr. Philipose Elamkavumkal were served as the assistant Vicar during this period.A kurishadi in the name of St. Mary situated infront of the church gate was consecrated on 1st January 1954 by H.H. Baselious Marthoma Mathews 1st on the occasion of 29th year of its establishment in its 49th year ie, 1974 the documents of the church was written in the name of the then Malankara Metropolitan of the church, H. H. Baselious Augen 1st. Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Kaiyalath, Rev. Fr. V. I. Thomas Vadakkedathu, Rev. Fr. P. Thomas Thazhathepeedikayil, Rev. Fr. Yakob Poikudiyil, Rev. Fr. M. C. Jacob Mundaplackamannil, Rev. Fr. W. C. Varghese Varambathu, Rev. Fr. V. C. Varghese Valakuzhy, Rev. Fr. K. V. Thomas Kallolickal, Rev. Fr. N. V. Mathews Polachirackal, Rev. Fr. K. I. Jacob Kaduthanathu, Rev. Fr. K. T. Philip Karappallil served as the vicar during 1946 to 1986.In 1986 , Rev. Fr. Ninan Varghese Mavunkal appointed as vicar and during this period the church was reconstructed and it’s really the golden epoch in the history of church. After him Rev.Fr.George Payyampallil ,Rev.Fr P.C Alexander , Rev.Fr. A P Thomas Ayiroothara ,Rev Fr John Mathew Anjilimoottil, Rev Fr Varghese Chacko Vanchipalam , Rev Fr PK Geevarghese Padinjare mannil ,Rev.Fr.Varghese John Kadakkethe and now Rev.Fr Johnson V  is serving as the vicar.
